Camping Scarabeo

Italy / Sicily / Ragusa
The campsite is situated in Punta Braccetto, a small fishing village on the coast of the province of Ragusa, south-east Sicily.
The geographical location is very special: Punta Braccetto lies south of the North-African parallel running through Tunisia.
The sea, the dunes and the rolling countryside combine to offer a typical Mediterranean landscape, known nowadays for its cultivation of cherry tomatoes.
The area is steeped in history with the archaeological ruins of Kamarina and Kaucana, two major Greek colonies, close by. Modern amenities can be found at the town of Santa Croce Camerina only 4 kilometres away.

The whole complex, which is divided into small lots, occupies an area of 12,000 square metres with direct access to a beautiful beach of fine, golden sand and clear blue seas. Guests can relax and enjoy magnificent views of the bay and the ruins of the XVIII century fortress Torre Vigliena.

The campsite was opened in 1970 by Giuseppe Nobile, a retired literature teacher and headmaster. Within a few years, Giuseppe, together with his wife, Nella and their son, Daniele, had created a corner of paradise equipped with modern facilities, and for ten years between 1968 and 1978 the campsite was regularly awarded the prestigious ‘National Prize for Quality and Courtesy’.

Scarabeo Camping is now run by the Di Modica family and has recently been completely renovated in traditional style using only the finest natural materials - wood, stone and terracotta.
Particular attention has been paid to the creation of modern sanitary accommodation enabling us to offer the choice of private or shared toilet and hand washing facilities, thus guaranteeing the highest standards of hygiene, cleanliness and privacy.
